Hanging Out Back

Out in the backyard I came across a little something...check out the tiny little toad at Morgan's feet. It's great to be able to show Morgan all these things, but inevitably he wants to keep them or take them in the house.

Then the toad took a picture of Morgan, while Morgan was telling him about all the great things that he had planned for them for the rest of the evening.

Morgan and Grandma enjoying the evening as it winds down.

I've once again caught up with all the pictures that are downloaded to the cpu (thru mid-June). I'll have to sync the camera (which last time I looked, had over 400 pics on it) and get cranking again!!

The Vistor

Our friends John and Sara went to San Diego for a week and we were happy to dog sat Clementine for them. Nacho was less certain about this decision...

Just another lazy weekend start

Laying low with the monkey (donkey kong) monster truck

Clementine settled right in...to Nacho's bed!

Meanwhile, Morgan decided to color some pictures for Clementine.

...And Nacho resigned to the role of a good host and forfeited his bed.

Pre-school Graduation

The thing about a November birthday, is you're going to be the old kid in your grade. When it comes to starting school, it means that you'll have to do pre-school for 2 yrs because of the Sept 1st cutoff. Oh well...this will take some getting used to for me because I was always the young kid in my grade.

For graduation, the kids learned a ton of patriotic songs. Here is an animated 'Grand Old Flag'. This was all so great because Morgan loves American Flag and all the patriotic songs. I picked up a cd from the library and we listen to it in the car often. I will never get tired of listening to Morgan sing the songs.

Getting his diploma.

Patiently waiting amidst some transition.

The kids all joined hands to sing 'We Are The World'.

Rain Play

I got home from soccer one Sunday and it was pouring. I was sweaty, so the rain was a relief for me. It was warm out, so I invited Morgan out to enjoy the downpour. There was quite a stream flowing down the street, so Morgan and I kicked water at each other and stomped in the water endlessly.

One of my favorite things to do with wet hair is run my fingers thru it and make it stand up...of course this was much more effective when my hair was plentiful :(
Here's Morgan's hair on the way up!

We were outside for a long time, but when funtime was over, one of us was FREEZING!!

Next stop: Warm shower!

Day at the Track

For Memorial Day (that's right, we're only current thru May), we went to a speedway in CT for an event called 'Eve of Destruction'. It consisted of FOUR different demolition derby's - compact cars, full size cars, school buses and trailer trash. We got our money's worth in a BIG way, as the event more than lived up to it's name.
The event was also featured a 'family fun' area, which despite having too many of Morgan's favorite things, he entered very timidly.

There was an inflatable slide that Morgan took a few turns down. With my eyes, but not the camera, I saw what Missy and her father did not...if you look at Morgan's heels here, you can see that they are digging in a little and the slide is showing crease lines. Well, they ended up digging in all the way and he went head over heels and smashed into the inflatable wall at the end. Of course, he immediately wanted to do it again.

Bounce House!! As usual Morgan had to be extracted from here :)

Get ready for the loud vehicles!

This was some in between derby entertainment. 4 wheelers and motorcycles zipping up and down the track. Here they are riding on only 2 wheels and the person waving a hand is sitting backwards in front of the handlebars. (Morgan and I practiced that last week)

There were some jet powered vehicles that were a little too loud for Morgan's taste, even with the ear muffs on.

The monster trucks were also used as in between derby entertainment. Oh that motorhome is going to regret his parking spot.

The place was packed, here's our cast of characters, loving the excitement.

As part of other intermission activites, they have a pink gorilla riding around on a 4 wheeler launching t-shirts out of air guns. Morgan's Grandma actually caught one!

You have to cheer the loudest if you want the gorilla to fire in your direction, therefore, I attribute Grandma's prize to Morgan's efforts.

Can you believe that we have zero pictures of any of the derby's? Well, it's one of those things that you kind of have to be there for. The show closed with fireworks and Morgan couldn't make it home before his upper eyelid smashed into his lower eyelid and the demolition derby was over. (Bonus: if you didn't notice, I hyperlinked 'trailer trash' up above and you can watch that derby on youtube. It's well worth it!)

Race to Sundown

Taking a break to snuggle with monkey. Morgan's shins, though containing a bruise or two here, look better than they will for the rest of the summer. He's always crashing into things, just being a kid!

Morgan took all his toys and vehicles out of the garage to line them up. This is the kind of nonsense that you can get away with by living on a dead end street (as you can see Morgan is walking in the road).

You can see in the picture above that the shadows are long. It was nearly time to come in for the nite and I told Morgan that he needed to haul all those things back into the garage where he got them from - cue action sequence!

To make a long story short, he was pretty quick about getting everything cleaned up and it was very entertaining. Here's the last piece getting ushered in. More summer fun on the way...

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Hello from McCoy Stadium!

With the knowledge that Morgan's cousin Grace would be part of a group signing the National Anthem, we headed out for the game. Unfortunately, we got snarled in traffic trying to park and didn't make it into the stadium in time.

I'm not sure what Morgan is actually doing here, but I like to think that he's singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" (with food in his mouth).

It was a beautiful day, but a little breezy in the shade, hence the long sleeve here, but the alternative is getting cooked in the sun...us fair skinned folks know how to play this one.

Morgan's hat...well, he doesn't always want to wear it and I don't always want to hold it.

There was a family fun fest adjancent to the stadium, that opened up prior to the end of the game. Does a 3 yr old care about seeing a baseball game thru?? Not so much.

There was a bounce house with obstacles in it. The entire event was free and there were teenagers in charge of the different amusements. Their boss told them to let the kids play as long as they wanted, no time limits. We lost Morgan in this bounce house for a good 15 minutes. Some parents were yelling at the teenager to get their kids out, we were yelling at Morgan. He was safe behind this mesh net, ignoring us, just bouncing the day away.

Some chicken nugget vendor was giving away free samples. Morgan took one and gobbled it, so I took one on his behalf. Then the vendor had teenagers walking around with platters offering them to the masses. Morgan and I got several more pieces by following behind them. :)

There were also free hot dogs!! Hands down, best day to end up at the ballpark!
